Description
Please don't get any funny ideas about this one. It was done as part of a challenge on another graphics site. The subject was alternate historical timelines. This was titled 'Lady Frances Drake sets sail with the fleet to do battle with the Armada, AD 1588', so it's not really very serious! I imagined a fascist Tudor Elizabethan England, along the lines of Ian McKellens 'Richard III'. I think Freud might have fun with some of the imagery though! The BG was really rushed to meet the deadline, and must be considered a WIP, as I'm changing the airships at the moment. All in Photoshop, with a tweak in Painter.
Edit: The image is updated to the newer version, but this doesn't change the thumbnails, of course...

ps: actually I like the anatomy of the woman at your pic Britannia more cause there I can't see any errors.

I feel that your color technique lets too much of a grayscale underpainting announce its presence. Too much gray in the color - in the shadow areas of colored regions such as the shadow areas of the thight - or in the red cloth areas.
Also, to totally nit-pick, I feel on the back of the left knee that the calve muscles should be disappearing behind the hamstrings - not the other way around. Am I right about that? It feels that way to me.
Highest marks - regardless of my nit picks - very good!

I love the blend of Nazi and elizabithan imagery. The clothing design is perfect and the attention to detail is just great.
Soooo gooooood.

You're right about the background, though.

I agree with both of
You said that the background is a work in progress, so I'm okay with it. Some things could be improved: The floor and the railings look a little like a 3D render at the moment. Try adding some texture and imperfections. I'd also picture the metal floorboards having some bolts somewhere.
The sky and airships look a little too blury and grey at the moment- more oranges and yellows, perhaps? The airships also look very uniform ( a little monotonous), though I'm not sure how this could be improved on, seeing as they're a fleet. Perhaps they could each have some subtle insignia to establish different ranks or something?
The hand holding her telescope thingy could look more convincing, I think. To have her fingers wrap over that much of the tops, the telescope would have to be sitting in her hand a little more, with her thumb overlapping it a bit.
After all that, let me reassure you that you've done, as said, a top notch job. All my prattling above is seriously minor, and probably most of it has to do with personal preference. You've got great talent!

JFrancis - you're right about the predominance of grey. I should have a bit of a play with the saturation in certain areas. And yes, I think you're also right about the hamstring. Funny how sometimes you don't see the obvious.
As for how long Kyena, it depends. This one took a few nights, and a full weekend, but I can't say for certain because I'll snatch a few minutes here and there as well. But I completely changed the BG on the last day. Originally it was a seascape to fit in with the Frances Drake theme, but I didn't like it.
City Rose - Thanks for the details. I struggle with hands, I admit. I usually sit with a mirror and draw my own which is why some of my female characters have rather masculine fingers...
Alecueous - Lol!

Just ask and I can maybe scan a few pages to show you.
Your artwork is very well done although I find it a tad too shiny, certain parts should maybe be less glamorously done to get a more real feel to them.

she must be adolf's daughter.
10/26/04 @906
The setting etc. reminds me a bit of Last Exile (probably because they used similar sources for their uniforms)
The colo is really well done, though I don't like the shading on her legs that much. A bit too greyish and too soft. But it's just a minor detail ^^' I'm really looking forward to the finished version

Elvenearth - The outfit is kind of Elizabethan, do you not think? And the armband is a fascistic version of the Tudor Rose. But it is meant to be a mixture of themes, so maybe the Elizabethan one could be made stronger.
Bigrod - Why doesn't that suprise me with a name like bigrod! Lol!
HisMadness - I'd love to see some of "Edward John Trelawney", thankyou. And yup, I can't seem to stop making things shiny... I keep trying to be more painty! Must stop using the airbrush...!
