Description
Oh dear, will it never stop! Probably soon... Another girl character from me and more blatant symbolism. Done for a challenge over on Concept Art and now completely reworked, (as I really wasn't happy with it in its original form) with a new face from an earlier picture that I never finished. And I've experimented with a few texture overlays on some of the materials. Very self indulgent I know...The challenge was 'Yourself as a Thunderdome Warrior', but I kind of lost the plot a bit and did another girl! She's just returned from kicking the living c**p out of a few Southerners (It was a UK North vs South Thunderdome), but she's still had a bit of time to pose for a portrait. Now it's back to Manchester for a nice long soak in a Radox bath, and a hug from a Bachelors mug!
Thankyou to Kyena for some valued advice!

The various contrasts of texture give a lot of "depth". I like the way you blur edges here and there, but the back mounted scabbard is probably a little too blurry causing a forced DOF camera shot look rather than what our eye would see. The flow/design to them hem of the cape is a bit unconvincing also.
Otherwise, grade A work! Always fun to see your latest creation.

Personally, the sword shold be vertical, but hey I might as well ask for her to be on a motor bike heading for m house...... lol
top work from a truly talented person...

ok ok I wasn't gunna say anything but is that a gun holster on her thigh??
and I am wondering why you mixed a modern girl with a mid evil girl theme kinda thing.. I would have liked to see the chain that's on her arm carried through out the body like one leg and bra and skirt.... maybe a head piece too..
I guess the two themes kinda work well together...modern-mid evil
its just I think the corset and pants are a little modern for what's on her arm....and the sward.. or maybe its just my personal taste
I guess none of this matters because I love your paint work its very well done and I enjoy very much viewing your work
thanks for sharing

Thankyou for some amazinly quick feedback too. I hated this pic in it's original form, but felt a bit better about posting this version.
Digital Dust - You are quite right about the hem of the cape being unconvincing. The curve is a bit smooth.
LuxemburgrQueen - Seducing eyes! Lol! I didn't add a BG deliberately because it was a character concept alone, and I didn't want to complicate the image.
Spyrotechnik - The ferret exists still in the other version. Its name was Natascha BTW. Ahem.. Kyena... Cough...
Aaden / Oxxid / Almost Human / Siffert and Fooxoo thankyou very much. And you too KittyKat and Thienbao!

Great work as always, I like the texture overlay you did, makes things less airbrushy, and oooooh the bluud!

But something seems wrong with her right hand, and it's like she needed no effort to hang her sword, it gives something not "natural" to your painting...
Great piece

BaronImpossible - "unimaginative snippets of clichéd wench-dom" Lol! They sure are, so lock me up!
Beanz - She's a 'chav' warrior! Needs a pair of fluffy boots though...
JESR / tetbautista - Thankyou!
Artoonator - She doesn't exist. Sniff...
Peachysticks - I like using textures, but the problem for me, is to not make them take over the image. It's getting that balance right. Thankyou!
SailorDidi - Thanks, but I don't think this is my best by far. There is loads wrong with it. Her pose is awkward, the right hand IS a problem. Once again I used my own for reference, but I kind of twisted it awkwardly...
03/20/05 @659
Technically perfect...but we've come to expect that now haven't we?...it's kinda uncomfortable to look at tho...the balance is just off and her sword arm has no tension, either dramatically or technically.
Nitpicking maybe...but I can't keep coming to your postings and going "wow"....lol

I am a cute ferret with pink bunny ears!!
Aly, I know people have given you some opinions about your subjects and I know you were not happy with the others version (I really really like this version btw - her face is overyl sexy (not to mention everything about her is).
I think you are just at a step where you want to improve again and that makes you think lower about your art then it actually is and I think that is a good thing
(Not sure if I make much sense..)
03/21/05 @677
Gorgeous stuff, Aly. This version's definately an improvement.

Mariella - Ha ha!
Stormrider - a lot of hard work and a couple of self produced overlays!
Pipertim - I wish I knew what you meant by that! If you think I copied the pose, I assure you I didn't. All my characters poses are completely from scratch. Or is it you think she looks like a catalogue model...?
